The Blue Springs girls golf team got its season off to a strong start.

Mady Acers fired a 3-over-par 75 as the Wildcats captured second place, falling by just one stroke, in the Camdenton Invitational Wednesday at The Club at Old Kinderhook.

Blue Springs totaled 340 to finish just behind Columbia Rock Bridge’s 339 in the 20-team tournament.

“Really proud of the girls,” Wildcats coach Jill Courter said. “We were needing a competition under our belts and I thought the girls did great for our first tournament. I'm really excited to see what this season will bring.”

Acers tied for second individually, while Lauren Muller tied for ninth at 86 and Jordan Marshall tied for 15th at 87 to earn medals.

Sierra Heuston shot 92 and Marybeth Podjenski posted a 110 to round out the Wildcats’ card.
