Bridge work is slated to begin next week in the area around Mark Twain Lake, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation.
Beginning Wednesday, Feb. 29, MoDOT and its contractor will close the south bridge on Missouri 107 over Mark Twain Lake to begin rehabilitative work on the bridge. Route FF north of Stoutsville will close in the middle of March to rehabilitate that bridge over the Lake. When work is complete on the southern bridge on Missouri 107, the north bridge on Missouri 107 will be closed to perform identical work. The closure of the north bridge should happen in early April. From the date of closure, each bridge should be reopened within 30 days, and all work will be complete before Memorial Day weekend. More specific information is available online at modot.org/northeast under the Mark Twain Lake icon.
Message boards will be set up the week before the closure of each bridge to notify motorists of the upcoming work. After the closure, the message boards will be moved back to intersecting routes to notify motorists that the road is closed. No detours will be established. Alternate routes of travel for Missouri 107 include U.S. 24 and Route U for the north bridge closure and Missouri 154 and Route U for the south bridge. For Route FF, alternate routes should be taken over Route V, U.S. 36 and Route PP.
PCI Roads, LLC of St. Michael, Minn., is the contractor for the project, which is expected to cost $2.7 million.
