How fast we come into your presence

Oh Lord, how fast we come into your presence
with countless requests in your ears.
I wonder if we’d do better approaching in reverence
for the things that You want us to hear.
And I wonder how many answers we would find
in the silence of just seeking your face;
If we would just bow our heads and drink in the majesty
and the glory that can’t be replaced.
Sometimes we don’t realize that all of our problems
aren’t meant to be erased by your hand,
But rather meant to drive us to your well of sovereignty
so we could live with what we don’t understand.
Lord, I think we’re guilty of gauging your love
based on things we believe You should do.
For it’s then we forget just how little we are
and the honor of walking with You.
Lord, I think we somehow shortchange ourselves
by only seeing You with eyes of the past;
When You long to take us further and show us new things
by your wisdom that always will last.
So, Father in heaven, take our errors and flaws
and our misconceptions for what’s really true.
Train us…and teach us to walk with You better
and to love You whatever we do.
                                                       AMEN
