Our freedoms fading away

I am responding to Catherine Bridgman’s letter in the Courier-Post, Feb. 17.
Yes, separation of church and state was a wise, founding principle in the framing of our constitution. If one is familiar with history, it is quite clear of the abuses and tyranny embedded in the state of affairs when the state and church shared the reins of government. What we are experiencing today is not the principle of separation of church and state, but the general assault on the church by removing all shadows and hints of our Christian heritage and principles from public life. Organizations, like the ACLU, and government mandates seem bent on not only limiting, but infringing upon, the practice of our faith.
In contrast, special consideration is being shown to the Muslim faith. Religious freedom? It is rapidly becoming a myth! If Obama has a degree in constitutional law, it would seem that he has abandoned or never believed what he learned. In taking his oath of office, he vowed to defend and uphold our constitution, but he has arrogantly and flagrantly stated he would not defend particular items. He has also tried his best to skirt around the orderly process of government, by abusing the privilege of administrative authority. Our constitutional crises grows by leaps and bounds as time wears on. Our religious freedoms as well as other freedoms are gradually being taken away. The pathetic thing is that most people are not even aware of this erosion in our public and private lives.
