Mike Gibbons vows to support the will of the people, rather than special interest groups, should he be elected to the office of attorney general on Nov. 4. During an editorial board meeting with the Courier-Post, he outlined specific plans for the office, focusing on making the right decisions for the right reasons. He is opposed in the race by Democrat Chris Koster, who didn’t respond to the newspaper’s invitation to discuss his candidacy.
Gibbons’s plans include establishing a cyber crimes unit as a separate unit in the attorney general’s office, by putting into place a lawyer who knows how to prosecute these crimes and a computer forensics expert who knows how to investigate. This would also include building better relationships with local prosecutors, so that the state office could help with local investigations.
Another plan is to establish an alert network to send out messages to citizens telling them how they can protect themselves from cyber crime.
We believe that Gibbons’ plans for the office are sound, and that they are in the best interests of the citizens of Missouri. Therefore, we endorse Mike Gibbons for Missouri’s next attorney general.
