The Hannibal Free Public Library Board of Trustees endorses the Mark Twain Museum & Boyhood Home in its capital campaign and other fundraising efforts.
It is admirable to capitalize on 2010, The Year of Mark Twain, not only to raise an endowment of $10 million for the museum, but also to expand Hannibal’s image around the world.  It is nice to know that local residents can visit and enjoy the museum without needing to pay an admission fee.
And, the museum is located right here in Hannibal, America’s Home Town.  The Library Board encourages citizens of Hannibal to donate to the museum.  The Library Board also reminds local residents of Trivia Night and other upcoming events.
We live in an electronic age, and the museum is putting it to good use in their innovative fundraising endeavors. For example, through Facebook, the museum hopes to reach one million Twain fans around the world that will each donate just $10.  Wasn’t the authorized graffiti on Tom Sawyer’s fence fun?
And, the museum is being clever by asking shoppers at certain businesses to have a donation made each time they shop.  Your credit card can even have a picture of the museum on it.
So, congratulations to Cindy Lovell and everyone at the museum.  You are doing a great job!
