Reader’s heart still in Hannibal

I just wanted to say how bad I felt about the Riverside Cemetery after reading the article posted back on June 2, 2009, by Marilyn (Burroughs) Summers. Then I saw the June 10th report on the cemetery to see that it was all cleaned up.
I now live in Tennessee but my heart is in Hannibal. My grandparents and great grandparents are all burred in the Riverside Cemetery and when my time comes that is where I want to go. I haven’t been there in over 20 years but I still am planning to visit soon.
I am always reading the paper and looking for some names of people that I knew when I was a child there. My grandfather was the town barber for 65 years - Charles Barnes - and my grandmother worked at the court house in the tag agency office. I was so unhappy to read how the cemetery was not being taken care of. If I could afford it I would pay to do it, I am working on getting rich again. But for now I have to live within my means.
I love Hannibal even though my mother hated it. She always said before she died, if I sent her body back to Hannibal she would haunt me. I look forward to the day I can come for a visit.
