The Hannibal School Board Election will be held on April 3. I am supporting Ryan Rapp and Justin Parker because of their professional skill-set, stewardship, and their attitude of service. I strongly encourage you to join me in voting for Rapp and Parker.
Ryan Rapp’s depth of knowledge in finance is unmatched by the other candidates. When our district was under financial strain, Rapp, along with Dr. Woodie Burt, stepped up to co-chair the Proposition C Committee and stabilize our district’s financial future. This experience, along with his recent time serving on the Hannibal School Board have prepared him for this position.
Justin Parker has a business degree from HLG, and experience in finance as well. His strengths include experience in the risk management industry, which uniquely prepares him to provide leadership in the community discussion regarding school safety. Parker’s experience in team building and working with teams is also a strength that will serve him well as a board member.
School Board members are charged with the responsibility to be stewards for our schools. That charge extends beyond financial stewardship. We entrust our board members to provide governance and leadership that will enable and equip our faculty, staff and administration to best serve our students. We expect them to monitor and evaluate our district without micromanaging the talented educators in our district. Their professional experience prepares Rapp and Parker to do just that.
I am confident that Ryan Rapp and Justin Parker will be excellent stewards of our district. I will be proud to mark their names on my ballot because I know the character of these two men. I watch them run their business life and raise their families based on their Christian values. Each of them truly lives with an attitude of service.
The list of Ryan Rapp’s volunteer positions in our community is overwhelming. His calming demeanor often masks the passion and effort that he puts into community service on a regular basis. If you are fortunate to know Ryan and his wife Megan, you know that they truly have hearts of servants.
One of the most significant demonstrations of Justin Parker’s heart of service, is the willingness of he and his wife, Erica, to serve as foster parents in our community. Justin and Erica have always been ready to respond as servants when a need touches their hearts.
Why is this attitude of service so important for a school board member? It demonstrates that their eagerness to serve as a board member is in no way self-serving - it is not the fulfillment of a personal dream, a personal vendetta, or just “something to do.” Their espoused desire to share their skills with our district by serving on this board is consistent with their efforts to improve the lives of those of us that live with them in the Hannibal area.
Please join me in voting for Ryan Rapp and Justin Parker on April 3.
