A Mass of Christian Burial for John Wilson Mudd, 95, of Columbia, formerly of Center, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at St. William Catholic Church in Perry with Father John Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal.
Visitation will from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Center.
Mr. Mudd passed away at 9:30 a.m. June 27, 2009, at Lenoir Woods Care Center in Columbia.
He was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Monroe County, Mo., the son of Jerome Wilson and Mary Hagan Mudd.
He was married to Wanda McAfee on Jan. 31, 1943, in New London, and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons and their spouses, John Mudd Jr. (Jean) of St. Charles, Donald (Joy) Mudd of Mehlville, and Gary Mudd of St. Louis; three daughters and their spouses, Joann (Hugh) Wayman and Eileen (Roger) Moore, all of Columbia, and Mary Sue (Edward) Parker of Marietta, Ga.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Pat, Frankie and Hagan Mudd; and two sisters, Dulcie Mahon and Barbara Mestrovich.
Mr. Mudd was a lifetime area resident and member of the St. William Catholic Church. He retired from farming after many years and moved to Columbia in 2004 to be closer to his children. He attended Our Lady of Lourds Catholic Church in Columbia. He was a charter member of the Center Lions Club. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Paul Historic Catholic Church or the Central Missouri Food Bank, Columbia.
Pallbearers will be Doug Mudd, Matthew Lewellen, James Scrogin, Jeff Scrogin, Mike Mudd, Andy Moore, Alex Mudd and Patrick Mudd. Honorary pallbearers will be Amanda Parker, Jennifer Eibel, Kristen Mudd, Jeremy Moore, Katie Chevalier and Laura Covert.
