Anna Theresa Smoot, 88, of Monroe City, passed away at 3:53 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Hannibal Regional Hospital, Hannibal, Mo.
She was born Aug. 12, 1921, in Shelbina, Mo., the daughter of Charles and Agnes Reardon Greening.
Mrs. Smoot attended Lakenan School, Lakenan, Mo. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City. She was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She worked as a supervisor at the Northeast Missouri Shelter Workshop in Hannibal, Mo., for 33 years before retiring in 2005. She enjoyed crafting and working word searches.
She was married to Robert Lee Smoot Jan. 28, 1939, in Shelbina, Mo. He passed away March 5, 1988.
Survivors include one son, Charles Luke Smoot and wife Eva, Monroe City; two grandsons, Justin Smoot, Monroe City, and Jared Smoot, Columbia, Mo.; one brother, Bob Greening and wife Ida, Shelbina, Mo.; two sisters, Pauline Wood and husband Jack, Clarence, Mo., and Caroline Vogler and husband Marvin, Moberly, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one brother, Bill Greening; and one sister, Eileen Greening.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City. Father Don Antweiler will officiate. Burial will be at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Feb. 10, at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City. The Daughters of Isabella will recite the Rosary at 4:45 p.m. and the Parrish will conduct a scripture service at 7:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Justin Smoot, Jared Smoot, Donald Wester, Ronald Wester, Paul Vogler and Gary Garner.
Memorials have been suggested to the Holy Rosary Church or Holy Rosary School.
Garner Funeral Home and Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
