Mr. Clarence Junior Plunkett, 83, of Philadelphia, Mo., passed away at 5:47 p.m. Thursday at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra. Junior was born Feb. 17, 1926, in Bethel, Mo., to C. W. and Ethel Gunnel Plunkett. Junior was married to Mary Alyce Steffen Oct. 3, 1948, in Hannibal. She survives of the home.
Survivors include, daughters, Gaye Lyn Spratt and husband, Brent of Philadelphia, Mo., Lissa Berry and husband, Ray of Bethel, Mo.; sons, Randy Plunkett and wife, Rhonda of Philadelphia, Mo., Rusty Plunkett of Columbia, Mo.; grandchildren, Jason Plunkett of Philadelphia, Justyn Plunkett of Palmyra, Lindsey Spratt of Austin, Texas, Tyler Spratt of Springfield, Mo., Dustin Berry of Columbia, Mo., Brandi Ensor of Centrailia, Mo., Dusty Berry of Leonard, Mo., Randi Lyn Berry of Bethel, Mo., Jesse Plunkett of Columbia, Mo., Emma Plunkett of Columbia, Mo.; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robbie W. Plunkett; and brother, Russel N. Plunkett.
Mr. Plunkett was A Marion County farmer and cattleman. Also, he was a union carpenter working for Freesen Inc., for many years.
He attended the former Bragg Country School.
Mr. Plunkett was a World War II Army Air Force Veteran with the 891st Air Engineering Squadron. He spent most of his service time in Germany between 1945 to 1946.
He was a member of the Old Threshers Club and the Carpenters Local No. 189 Union in Quincy, Ill. He loved the outdoors and hunting with his bird dogs Ben and Red. He was a member of Nelsonville Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Nelsonville Baptist Church in Nelsonville, Mo. Rev. Paul Mills will officiate. Burial will be at the Steffenville Cemetery in Steffenville, Mo. Graveside Military Rites by the Boots Dickson Post 174 of The American Legion and the Norfolk Smith VFW Post No. 11041. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to Nelsonville Baptist Church and/or Blessing Hospice Foundation.
Casket bearers will be Jason Plunkett, Justyn Plunkett, Tyler Spratt, Dustin Berry, Dusty Berry and James Oxford.
Honorary bearers will be Isac Berry, Jesse Plunkett, Quade Plunkett, Ragar Plunkett, Peyton Plunkett and Reed Plunkett.
