Evelyn Bernice Mayfield, 95, of Quincy, Ill., passed away at approximately 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the St. Vincent’s Home in Quincy, Ill.
She was born Sept. 21, 1914, in Ralls County, the daughter of Clarence Charles and Carrie Belle Greeves Huff. On Jan. 1, 1941 she was united in marriage to James H. Mayfield in Shelbina. He preceded her in death on April 25, 1985.
Bernice is survived by one daughter, Carla Mayfield of Quincy, Ill.; one brother, Kenneth Huff and wife Doris of Shelbina; one sister, Oneta Purdy of Shelbina and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, one still born son, Larry Don; and two brothers, Woodrow and Elmo Huff.
Evelyn graduated from Shelbina High School in 1933 and was a member of the First Christian Church in Quincy, Ill. She enjoyed soap operas, reading and embroidery.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2009, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Saturday. Burial will be at the Shelbina Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the St. Vincent Home, Blessing Hospice or the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, all in Quincy, Ill.
