William “Bill” Edward Jameson, 79, of Hannibal, died at 5:23 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal. 
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Antioch Baptist Church in Hannibal. The Rev. Jack Emmite and Dr. David Pelletier will officiate. Burial with full military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 will be at Grand View Burial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Mr. Jameson was born April 18, 1930, in Hannibal, Mo., to Edward and Frances Ellen Dooley Jameson. Bill was born in the family home on Vermont Street in Hannibal, Mo. The day Bill was born the national census taker came to the door and refused to leave until they named him.
He was married to Sara Jean Morris on June 1, 1957, in Hannibal, Mo. She survives.
Other survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Ellen Baker and husband Bill of Hannibal, Mo., and Angela Anne Riggs and husband Louis of Hannibal, Mo.; and grandchildren, Adrienne K. Baker, Allison L. Baker, Meredith A. Riggs and Thomas L. Riggs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Joseph Jameson; and infant grandchildren, Jonathan William Baker and Sarah Elizabeth Baker.
Mr. Jameson attended Tilden School until it closed in 1947, then graduated from Hannibal High School with the Class of 1948. He graduated from Hannibal-LaGrange College in 1950, where he also played basketball. He continued his education at the University of Missouri-Columbia, graduating in 1952 with a degree in biology. He received his Masters of Science Degree from the University of Michigan in 1958.  Mr. Jameson served in the United States Army from 1952-54 and was a veteran of the Korean War. He received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and Good Conduct Medal. He taught science at Eugene Field Junior High School from 1954-1959. He then taught science at Hannibal Junior High School until 1968, when he became the Building Trades Instructor at the Hannibal Area Vocational and Technical School. He served as director of the Vocational School from 1970 until 1976. From 1976 until 1983, he was a self employed contractor. He returned to the Hannibal Public Schools in 1983, teaching until his retirement in 1992. During retirement, he worked part time at Park Place Sign Systems. Mr. Jameson was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and as a former Sunday School director. Mr. Jameson was a volunteer and charter member of the Hannibal-LaGrange College Campus/Community Connectors. He served as a member of the board of the Hannibal Free Public Library and was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and state vocational education associations. 
Mr. Jameson had a lifelong love of carpentry that began as a very young man when he worked for the late Rev. E.M. Turner. Even while teaching, he did carpentry work for many local families.
Mr. Jameson was happiest when with family and friends. He could often be found in his basement workshop doing a woodworking project with his grandchildren, or taking them fishing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Antioch Baptist Church or Hannibal-LaGrange College in care of the James O’Donnell Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Frame, Alan Sims, Don White, Harvey Harrison, Ken Linnenburger, Ron Riggs, Bill Baker and Louis Riggs.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, and Jameson Cox, Lyle Cox and James Croft.
