Norma Beatrice Pflantz

Mrs. Norma Beatrice Pflantz, 90, of Palmyra, Mo., passed away at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at her home. Norma was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Steffenville, Mo., to Aura A. and Willa M. Hall Feigenspan.
Norma was married to Reginald Carl Pflantz Dec. 28, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church - West Ely, Mo. He preceded her in death April 1, 1996.    
Survivors include her children, Roxie Bunk and husband Jim of Palmyra, Rex Pflantz and wife Jill of Hannibal, Elaine Thompson and husband Richard of Palmyra, and Viola Weiker and husband Steve of Colfax, Wis.; one sister, Erma Pflantz of Fulton, Mo.; sisters in law, Virginia Pflantz of Palmyra and Dorothy Pflantz of Barnhart, Mo.; grandchildren, Michelle (Aaron) Bono of Kansas City, Mo., Jim Bunk of Lenexa, Kan., Andy Bunk of Columbia, Mo., Melissa (Sam) Hanlin Of Olathe, Kan., Mike (Trisha) Pflantz of St. Louis, Mo., Joe Thompson of Palmyra, Travis (Erica) Thompson of Columbia, Mo., Dustin (Brittany) Weiker of Menomonee, Wis., Rachael Weiker of Madison, Wis., and Madelyn Weiker of Madison, Wis.; and five great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Mrs. Pflantz was a school teacher at Palmyra R-I Elementary School, retiring in 1979. She had formerly taught at Marion County R-II School.
She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State Teacher’s College.
She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid, Friendship and Service Extension Club, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Zion Lutheran Quilters, and was active with the 4-H Club. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Palmyra.    
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Zion Lutheran Church In Palmyra. The Rev. David Johnson will officiate. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra, Mo. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 3, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church and/or Palmyra Nutrition Center.   
Casket bearers will be Mike Pflantz, Jim M. Bunk, Joe Thompson, Andy Bunk, Dustin Weiker and Travis Thompson.
Honorary bearers will be Melissa Hanlin, Michelle Bono, Rachael Weiker and Madelyn Weiker.
