Brian Wesley Glascock, 67, of Jacksonville, Ill., passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2010, on the family farm near Mt. Sterling. He was born June 29, 1943, in Hannibal, the son of S.D. and Dora Margaret Snell Glascock. He married Carolyn A. Baumann on Nov. 30, 1974, at the Church of Our Saviour in Jacksonville and she survives.
He is also survived by four daughters, Cathy Glascock of St. Louis, Elizabeth (husband, Joshua) Atherton of Springfield, Ill., Fritzie (husband, Brian) Wagner and Suzanne (husband, Manuel) Rendon both of Jacksonville, Ill.; one grandson, Landon Pieper; one brother, Kenneth (wife, Karen) Glascock of Hannibal, and three sisters, Wanda (husband, Ray) Mueller of Prairie Village, Kan., Dorothy (husband, Bill) Foster of Saverton, and Beth (husband, Steve) Proctor of Independence, Mo. He was preceded in death by one brother, Clarence Glascock and one sister, Mary McAfee.
Mr. Glascock graduated from the Missouri School for the Deaf in 1964. Following graduation, he attended Printer Training School in Little Rock, Ark. He then began working at Western Publishing and worked there for six years before transferring to Hertzberg New Method where he worked for 25 years before retiring.
He loved taking care of his gardens and being outside. He enjoyed hunting and fishing on the family farm. He was a member of the Jacksonville Community Senior Deaf (JCSD) and enjoyed going there every week.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery in Mt. Sterling. The family will meet friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Mt. Sterling Catholic Cemetery or Jacksonville Community Senior Deaf (JCSD).
