Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Jean Darnell, 67, of Ashburn, Mo., will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 25, at the Collier Funeral Home in Louisiana. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery near Louisiana. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 24, at the funeral home. Mrs. Darnell passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010, at the home of her son, Russell, in Bowling Green.
She was born Jan. 3, 1943, in Hannibal, to Ralph Edgar Campfield and Leota Florence Franklin Campfield. She married James Earl Darnell Sr., Jan. 9, 1960, in Hannibal, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 2000.
She is survived by six sons, James Darnell Jr., Tom Darnell, Grant Darnell, Ralph Darnell, John Darnell and Russell Darnell; three daughters, Naomi Maple, Dana Otera and Jackie Trosclair; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She had been employed as a cook at the Pike County Sheriff’s Department until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist of Hannibal, and worked as a volunteer for Foster Grandparent Program in Louisiana.
