Marjorie LaVelle Lyle, 90, of Hannibal, died at 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal. 
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the First Church of the Nazarene in Hannibal. The Rev. Mark Burkey will officiate. Burial will be at Green Glade Cemetery in Farmington, Iowa. The James O’Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the the First Church of the Nazarene.
Mrs. Lyle was born April 5, 1919, in Bonaparte, Iowa, to Arthur Frederick and Caroline Alta Muntz VonSeggen.
She was married to George Lyle on June 7, 1943, in Clark County, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Lynette Newson (Mike) of Olathe, Kan., and Sandy Thornton (Jim) of Hannibal, Mo.; one sister, Donita Carlson of Aledo, Ill.; three grandchildren, Courtney Leigh Hoedl (Brian), Kelsi Brooke Pio and Brittany Ann Thornton; one great-grandchild, Brileigh Lyn Hoedl; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, LaVerne VonSeggen and Donald VonSeggen; and one granddaughter, Carrie Lyn Newson.
Mrs. Lyle was a homemaker. She was active in mission work at the Fort Madison Church of the Nazarene. She taught Sunday school, she was the church pianist and was very active in her church. Mrs. Lyle loved walking and reading and was a wonderful cook. She has spent 15 years “wintering” in Florida with her husband. Mrs. Lyle was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene.
