Howard Halley, 87, of Columbia, formerly of Moberly, died Thursday July 12, 2018 at The Columbia Post Acute Facility in Columbia.

Private services honoring and celebrating Howard’s life will be held at a later date.

He was born July 27, 1930 in Macon County to William and Hattie (Sexton) Halley.

Mr. Halley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and had received an honorable discharge.

He was a supervisor, associated with Union Electric/Ameren for 44 years, at the time of his retirement.

He married Bessie Mitchell on Sept. 24, 1950 in Moberly and she preceded him in death April 29. 2018.

Survivors include his son, Kevin Halley of Columbia; two granddaughters Jacqueline Viliocco and husband, Tony, and Jessica Miller and husband, Brenden; two sisters Barbara Hanks of North Carolina and Faye Schroeder of Iowa; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Karen; six brothers; and four sisters.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
