Betty L. Beckett, 88, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:49 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Betty L. Beckett, 88, of Hannibal, passed away at 8:49 a.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Joe Thrower will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Friends and family are invited to Betty's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Betty was born Jan. 13, 1930, in Hannibal, to Lonnie and Edna Mines Cunningham.

She was married to Billy G. Beckett on April 9, 1950 in Hannibal. He preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1998.

Survivors include two children, Pamela Potterfield (Jerry) of Monroe City and Kenneth Beckett of Hannibal; four brothers, Charles Cunningham, Cecil Cunningham, Richard Tompkins and Curt Wright; one sister, Karen Pipkin, five grandchildren, Jennifer Potterfield, Kimberly Potterfield, Greg Beckett, Heather McCarty and Dakota Beckett; and two great-grandchildren, Justin Capp and Brooklyn Parker. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley Larson and Beverly Sanders; and one brother, LaVerne Tompkins.

Betty worked as a telephone operator at Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring after 30 years.

In her school days, Betty was a talented basketball player. She enjoyed reading and watching FOX news on TV. Most of all, she cherished the time that she shared with family and friends.

Betty taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at Prince Avenue Baptist Church. Betty was the oldest living member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
