Mrs. Juetta Lu Mayes (Haines), 92, of New London, passed away peacefully at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal.

Mrs. Juetta Lu Mayes (Haines), 92, of New London, passed away peacefully at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Beth Haven Nursing Home in Hannibal. 

Juetta (a.k.a."Joy") is survived by her sons, Barry Rickert and Bob Rickert (Kathy); grandchildren, Elizabeth Rickert Dowdy, Brian Rickert, Chase Rickert, Linde Rickert Tassell, Dorian Crampton, Jane Strickland, Kelly Whitfield and Aaron Groves; 12 great-grandchildren; cherished cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Mayes; and an infant son, Jesse Rickert.

Juetta was born Aug. 25, 1925, in St. Louis to Jesse and Carrie Haines and lived most of her life in Phillipsburg and Dayton, Ohio.

Juetta will be remembered for her gentle kindness, her gentility and her great laugh.

Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at the Woodland Cemetery in Dayton, Ohio.   

The family is being served by the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal.
