Sarah Juanita Motley Neff, 88, of Hannibal, passed away at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at the Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Sarah Juanita Motley Neff, 88, of Hannibal, passed away at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017, at the Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Park Lawn Cemetery in Barry, Ill.

Friends and family are invited to Sarah's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 1 p.m. Friday until the time of service, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Sarah was born July 26, 1929, in New Canton, Ill., to Donald K. and Laura Ethel Wells Bolin.

Sarah married Malcolm L. Motley on June 26, 1948 at her parents’ home in Barry, Ill. He preceded her in death May 11, 1998. She later married Dr. Dale Neff on December 28, 2003. He preceded her in death on May 29, 2006.

Survivors include three children, Jan Motley, Donald L. Motley (Lori) and Mary Mapes; one sister, Martha June Hunt; two grandchildren, Kimberly Stone (Jeff) and Ryan Heath Motley; and three great-grandchildren, Trenton, Logan and Alexander; and one stepson, Bill Neff. She is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Kevin L. Motley; and one grandson, Kristian L. Motley.

Prior to raising her family, Sarah had worked as a bookkeeper at the Chrysler dealership in Barry, Ill. A talented green thumb, Sarah also ran a nursery with her family selling plants, fruits and vegetables. Sarah supervised the greenhouse. Baking was another talent of Sarah’s. She made the most wonderful pies. Her specialties included apple pie and cream pies, including coconut, chocolate and banana. A professional shopper of sorts, Sarah was always looking for a deal or her next piece of Betty Boop memorabilia to add to her collection that she dearly loved. Sarah always enjoyed decorating for the holidays and seasons, with Christmas being her most favorite. Most of all, Sarah simply enjoyed time shared with family and those whom she loved.

Sarah was a member of the First Christian Church in Barry, Ill.
