Donna K. Whitaker, 70, of Hannibal, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

Donna K. Whitaker, 70, of Hannibal, passed away at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill.

 

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Mr. John Akright, Pastor Curt Riley and Pastor Michael Neff will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

 

Friends and Family are invited to Donna’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

 

Donna was born Oct. 21, 1947, in Ypsilanti, Mich. to Dr. A. L. and Muriel Buss Verbeck.

 

Survivors include two daughters, Shelly Robertson (Sean) of Hannibal and Dawn Whitaker of Quincy, Ill., one sister, four grandchildren, Emily Robertson, Ethan Robertson, Eizek Robertson and Jacob Coberly, special friend and "running buddy," Carla Lamberson, a special family member, Freda Hughes and nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, and three brothers, Glenn Verbeck, Neil Verbeck and Mark Verbeck.

 

Donna was a retired optician technician.

 

Away from work Donna loved to camp. She enjoyed camping at Mark Twain Lake and in Shebogan, Wis. A talented builder, Donna loved to tinker and design her own projects. A wonderful cook, Donna made many delicious treats for her family. Her homemade hard candy, homemade noodles and pork chops and ketchup gravy were favorites. Most of all Donna cherished her time with family. Whether attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, taking a ride to enjoy the fall colors or simply playing a dice game, Donna loved her family.

 

Donna’s faith was her rock. She read and studied her Bible daily. Donna was a member of the Tabernacle of Praise Church.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Tabernacle of Praise Church or the Hannibal Nutrition Center.

 

Pallbearers will be Eizek Robertson, Ethan Robertson, Curt Riley, Nathan Lamberson, Adam Richardson, and Jeff Foster.
