Yvonne graduated from La Plata High School in 1949. She furthered her education at Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (Truman State University) in Kirksville. She taught school in New Cambria before making her home in Hannibal, where she taught for several years and then stayed home to raise her family. She stayed active in the school system for years by substitute teaching.
Mrs. Cassidy was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church in Hannibal for 60 years. She was very involved in her church with Sunday School, Handbell choir, committees and other activities. Yvonne also was very active in the Hannibal Regional Hospital Auxiliary.
Yvonne enjoyed bicycling, boating and traveling with friends and family. She spent endless hours on the river and at the Lake of the Ozarks with her family. She traveled extensively with friends/family and many of those trips were on bicycle tours. Her biggest love was her family - attending her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities and special moments in their lives. She cherished every moment. She also was very involved in the lives of her brothers and sister and their children. To her nieces and nephew and all their children, she was fondly known as “Aunt Sissie.” Yvonne was an amazing and special lady whose memories will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Pallbearers will be Dirk Sauer, Jim Humphreys, Bob Wathen, Jamie Creech, Jake Knepp and Cassidy Stringer.
