Roberta Frost Begley, 88, of Palmyra, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Roberta Frost Begley, 88, of Palmyra, passed away Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the First Presbyterian Church in Palmyra. Reverend Roger Ricketts will officiate. Roger Begley will be organist, with special music provided by the McPike sisters singing Roberta's favorite hymns: Precious Lord, Take My Hand and In the Garden. Reverend Ricketts will also be reading her favorite scriptures from the books of Psalms and Isaiah. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Palmyra.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Lewis Brothers Funeral Chapel.

Roberta was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Marion County to Charles M. and Bertha Kuhn Frost.

She was married to Marion L. “Red” Begley on Oct. 29, 1947. He preceded her in death Nov. 14, 2001.

Survivors include three sons, Roger Begley, Palmyra, Kevin Begley (Susan), Columbia, Wes Begley (Jenna), Shelbina; one daughter, Lara Begley, Palmyra; five grandchildren, Tighe Begley, St. Peters, Josh Begley (Tara), Columbia, Wesley Begley Jr., Philadelphia, Chance Begley (Felicia), Palmyra, Ashley Means (Brandon), Hannibal; four step-grandchildren, Daisy, Wyatt, Ellie and Westin Jackson, all of Shelbina; five great-grandchildren, Kylie and Hailey Begley, Palmyra, Ryan and Katherine Begley, O'Fallon, and Evelyn Begley, Columbia; one brother, Max Frost, Palmyra; and one sister, Marilyn Bird, Palmyra.

Aunt Babe is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in the area.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Myron, Warren and Argile Frost.

Roberta was a 1945 graduate of Palmyra High School. Many in the area may remember her smiling face greeting students daily in her capacity as a secretary at Palmyra R-I Elementary School from 1972 until 1992.

Roberta was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, elder, treasurer, secretary and Clerk of Sessions for many years, notably serving as secretary for 50 years.

She loved birds, especially hummingbirds and Cardinals.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church.

Pallbearers will be James Bird, Danny Frost, David Frost, Phillip Begley, Steve Begley and Justin Begley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Shuck, Chester Otte, Russell Beatty and Kenneth Bugh, Sr.
