Duane Oney Neff, 83, of Marissa, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at his home.

Duane Oney Neff, 83, of Marissa, Ill., passed away Friday, Nov. 3, 2017, at his home.

Duane was born on June 14, 1934, in Hannibal, the son of the late Oney George and Amelia Marie (Browning) Neff. Duane graduated from Monroe City High School, Monroe City, in 1952.

Duane and Irene Britton were married on Aug. 6, 1954, in Kahokia. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1958. He was employed at Kuhlman Diecasting in Monroe City and later as a Tooling Engineer at Spartan Light Metal in Sparta, Ill. and a salesman at GH Tool and Mold in Washington. He was a longtime member of the Assembly of God Church, where he was a Deacon, Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher and a Song Leader.

Duane is survived by his wife, Irene, of Marissa, Ill., two daughters: Janette (Eric) Whitlock of Marissa, Ill. and Michelle (Dan) Duelker of Imperial; one son, Duane E. (Kathy) Neff of Percy, Ill.; two sisters: Eleanor Willsey and Virginia (Penny) Stoll of Hannibal; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Elizabeth (Neff) Mahsman of Palmyra.

Visitation services were held at McDaniel and Lee Funeral Home in Sparta, Ill., on Nov. 5, 2017. Funeral services were held at First Assembly of God Church in Sparta, Ill., on Nov. 6, 2017. Interment was at Marissa City Cemetery, Marissa, Ill. Pallbearers were Duane’s nephews: Michael Mahsman, Phillip Mahsman, Randy Mahsman, Steven Smith, Buddy Mahsman, Mark Mahsman and Doug Mahsman.
