James McQueen, 79, of Warsaw, Ill., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at the University of Iowa Veteran’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

James McQueen, 79, of Warsaw, Ill., passed away at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2017, at the University of Iowa Veteran’s Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born on March 15, 1938, in Hannibal, Mo., a son of James S. and Geraldine Hively McQueen. James married Blanche Smith on Jan. 27, 1972, in Hannibal, Mo. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 2016.

Survivors include: a son: Jeremiah (Cathy) McQueen of Warsaw, Ill.; two daughters: Brandy (Dennis) Boley of Keokuk, Iowa and Lori McQueen of Lima, Ill.; a sister: Sharon (Mike) Williams of Troy, Mo.; a brother: William Louis (Debbie) McQueen of Gulfport, Fla.; stepson: Steven (Kim) Bramblett of Hannibal, Mo.

He is also survived by five grandchildren; Cheyenne and Daniel McQueen, Joshua Bramblett, Jamie LaFrenier and Taylor Bramblett; and two great-grandchildren: Sophia and Max LaFrenier.

James was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley Bramblett; and a brother, Joseph Neal.

James graduated from the Hannibal Senior High School in Hannibal, Mo. He served in the United State Army as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne Unit. James was a print operator at the Standard Printing in Hannibal and at the Hamilton Press in Hamilton, Ill. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Hannibal, Mo. He enjoyed fishing, boating, horses and motorcycle racing.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

No service or visitation will be held. James’ family thanks friends and family for their thoughts and prayers.
