Carol Ann Horton Hays, 75, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 4:23 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.

Carol Ann Horton Hays, 75, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 4:23 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017, at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal.     

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Steve Barker will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.

Friends and family are invited to Carol's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Carol was born March 8, 1942, in Hannibal, Mo., to Oliver Westley and Mary Ann Bixler Horton Bushmeyer.

She was married to Robert Glennon Hays on Dec. 31, 1960, in Monroe City, Mo. He survives.

Other survivors include four children, Mark Alan Hays (Lisa) of New London, Mo., Julie Ann Hays of Hannibal, Mo., Brian Todd Hays of Hannibal, Mo., and Jason Christopher Hays of Hannibal, Mo.; one sister, Betty Engelmann of St. Charles, Mo.; grandchildren, Crystal Whelan (Ben), Christopher Hays, Lexi Hays, Justin Michael Galluzzio, Heather Nichole Galluzzio-David, Kailey BreAnna Derschon, Michael Brian Hays (Kelsey), Steven Todd Hays, Austin Hays and Kristin Hays; great-grandchildren, Katelyn Whelan, Rogan Lane David and Grayson Michael Hays.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one half-brother, David Bushmeyer; three half-sisters; and one grandson, Bentley Michael White Hays.

Carol worked as a bartender and waitress at the Broadway Bar for 20 years. She was a devoted member of the First Christian Church in Hannibal. She enjoyed going shopping, making afghans and attending to her flowers. She loved to travel and enjoyed visiting Destin, Fla., Branson, Mo., and the Wisconsin Dells, just to name a few places. She was a wonderful cook, with one of her specialties being banana bread. She loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and gathering with her family and friends, especially around the holidays.

Memorial contributions may be made to Carol Ann Horton Hays Memorial Fund for her family, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Galluzzio, Christopher Hays, Michael Hays, Steven Hays, Austin Hays and Jeff Engelmann.

Honorary pallbearers will be Katelyn Whelan, Rogan Lane and Grayson Michael Hays.
