Mary Margaret Riley, 89, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 11:45 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, Mo.

Mary Margaret Riley, 89, of Hannibal, Mo., passed away at 11:45 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2017, at Luther Manor Nursing Center in Hannibal, Mo.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Dr. Steven Beebe will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, Mo. Friends and family are invited to Mary’s Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Mary was born July 21, 1927, in Shelbyville, Mo., to Omer and Nellie Wilcox Dye.

She was married to Lawrence Riley on April 4, 1947, in Hannibal, Mo. He preceded her in death Oct. 22, 2006.

Survivors include: one son, Mark Riley (Cathy) of Hannibal, Mo.; three brothers: Omer Dye, Jr. of Gary, Ind., Jim Dye (Rosetta) of Shelbina, Mo., Lee Edward Dye (Jodel) of Canton, Mo.; one sister, Dorothy Thurston (Pete) of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Eric Riley (Kate) of O'Fallon, Mo. and Jason Riley (Stephanie) of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and three great-grandchildren: Addison, Norah and Carter. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Herb Dye.

Mary previously worked at the International Shoe Factory in Hannibal, Mo. Many in Hannibal will remember Mary from the Hannibal J.C. Penney’s Store, where she began working in 1964 and continued to work in the store’s shoe department for 23 years.

Mary enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, Lawrence, and attending his Naval Reunions. A talented baker, Mary’s Chocolate Chip cookies were a family favorite. In her free time, Mary enjoyed word search puzzles and watching games shows on TV. Most of all, Mary treasured the time she shared with family, especially her grandchildren.

Mary previously attended Southside Baptist Church in Hannibal, and later she attended the Hydesburg Methodist Church in rural Hannibal.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hydesburg Methodist Church or Luther Manor Hair Care Group, in care of the James O'Donnell Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Eric Riley, Jason Riley, Steve Dye, Bill Dye, Tony Dye and Chad Cunningham.
