Marilyn Kay Erickson-Esposito, 76, of Lincoln, R.I., decedent of Hannibal, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. She was the wife of the late Dr. Ronald Esposito.

Marilyn Kay Erickson-Esposito, 76, of Lincoln, R.I., decedent of Hannibal, passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 23, 2017, at Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I. She was the wife of the late Dr. Ronald Esposito.

Graveside Services and burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hannibal. The James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal is in charge of arrangements.

There is no visitation.

Marilyn was born in Evanston, Ill., the daughter of the late Clifford and Mildred Brinkmeier Erickson.

Marilyn graduated from Michigan State University with a Master’s Degree in Education. While studying at the university she met her husband, Ronald. In 1970, the family moved to Rhode Island where Dr. Esposito accepted a position at Rhode Island College.

In 1988, Marilyn founded and created Local Hero Deli with her son Andrew. Marilyn created the recipes that made Local Hero a success. The most popular dishes were Marilyn’s famous macaroni salad along with mile high lasagna and brownies.

“She was an amazing chef that taught me everything I know” said Andrew.

Marilyn was a devoted New England Patriots fan and never missed watching a game.

She is survived by her son Andrew and his wife, Julie Esposito, and their children Christian and Cameron of Lincoln, R.I., and her daughter Laura and her husband, Paul Perfetto, and their son, Louis, of Hannibal, Mo. She was the sister of the late Dr. Bruce Erickson.
