Among those absent when the Missouri Legislature convened this week for its annual veto session was state Rep. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown. Munzlinger was battling a case of shingles, which he added affected the shoulder on which he recently had surgery.
“This is a much different kind of pain from anything I have ever experienced,” said Munzlinger in a release.
According to Munzlinger, he was advised to stay home by Ron Richard, speaker of the House, who did not anticipate any successful overrides would occur. As it turned out, Richard was correct as no vetoes were reversed. The last time a vetoed bill was overridden was in 2003 when it became legal for Missourians to carry concealed weapons.
