Hannibal, MO —

U.S. Sen. Kit Bond will be in Hannibal at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, to host a roundtable at the Mark Twain Hotel Apartments with local officials, developers, housing advocates and residents. The purpose of the event is to highlight the importance of addressing the shortage of affordable housing to help low income working families during the current economic crisis.
“This is the type of emergency stimulus spending we should be supporting - programs that will create jobs now and help families,” said Bond.
Last week, Bond was successful in passing a provision to jump-start the building of affordable housing units in Missouri and across the nation. Bond’s provision will create 3,000 Missouri jobs and help build more than 700 affordable housing units in the state.
