A ground-breaking ceremony for a new 100,000 gallon drinking water storage tank in Monroe County will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 19, at the Monroe County Public Water Supply District (PWSD) No. 2, 23504 U.S. 24, in Paris.
The drinking water improvements are being made possible in part by money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund and a Department of Economic Development’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The Department of Natural Resources awarded Monroe County PWSD #2 with a Recovery Act State Revolving Fund $1,065,250 grant, a $1,065,200 loan and a $310,103 Rural Water Grant to make necessary drinking water improvements to the facility. In addition, the Department of Economic Development provided a $500,000 CDBG to the district.
The improvements will include a new 100,000 gallon elevated storage tank, pump station, distribution system improvements and new water meters.
