State Rep. Rachel Bringer will not be serving on the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District.
Bringer, D-6, of Palmyra, was one of three candidates to replace the retiring Booker T. Shaw.
However, Gov. Jay Nixon has announced the appointment of St. Louis County Circuit Judge Gary M. Gaertner Jr. to the job.
Gaertner, 44, has served as a judge for the 21st Judicial Circuit since July 2000 and is a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri.
The other candidate for the appeals court was 57-year-old Thomas B. Weaver of Glendale. The three candidates were recommended by the Appellate Judicial Commission.
Bringer is an attorney who earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Missouri at Columbia. She was elected to the Missouri House in 2002, and term limits prevent her from seeking re-election next year.
