Almost 1,250 entries competed in the Louisiana Club's Great Mississippi River Duck Race on Sunday.
The ninth annual event was part of the 24th annual Louisiana Country Colorfest. Nice weather brought a large crowd to the riverfront for the race. Numbers on the plastic ducks correspond with numbers on tickets sold by Lions members. The Bowling Green Lions Club helped with ticket sales, event preparations and prize coordination. First-place winner Joseph Ardeneaux of Louisiana received $1,000 for his duck, named Lola K. Nineteen other finishers got merchandise prizes. The Lions Clubs use proceeds for community service projects.
