Four plead guilty to federal drug charges

Four people from Pike County have pleaded guilty to methamphetamine conspiracy charges.

   Acting U.S. Attorney Michael W. Reap identified the four as 23-year-old Holly L. Heck, 24-year-old Brandon Cory Smith, 21-year-old Samantha Heck and 33-year-old Orlando Anthony Grimmett, all of Bowling Green.

   Each pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to possess pseudoephedrine knowing that it would be used to make meth.

   Twenty-year-old Rachel Nichol Burns of Troy faces the same charge and is scheduled for trial.

   Each defendant faces 20 years in prison and fines up to $250,000.  Sentencings have been set for Jan. 29 and Feb.  2.

   Reap commended the work on the case by the Pike County Sheriff’s Department, the Troy and the Hannibal police departments and the Lincoln County Narcotics Enforcement Team.
