Hannibal Rural firefighters battle fire in wooded area

Hannibal Rural Fire Protection District firefighters were called Tuesday to property in back of 15499 Centenary Road, New London, in response to the report of fire in the woods.
Upon arrival, firefighters found an estimated 15 acres of a wooded area on fire. Assistance was requested from New London Fire Department due to the high winds. It took firefighters approximately two hours to confine the fire. The cause of the fire was undetermined. The property was owner by John Hayes of Bowling Green.
There were no injuries reported.
