Weather permitting, beginning Monday, March 22, the Missouri Department of Transportation and its contractor will begin resurfacing almost three miles of Business U.S. 61 in Palmyra from just north of Route BB to just north of U.S. 24/61 overpass, and will also resurface almost 10 miles of Route C from Route Z west junction to Route 168 near Palmyra.
Beginning Monday, crews will begin milling and resurfacing the driving lanes on U.S. Route 61 through Palmyra. Motorists in Palmyra are advised not to park their vehicles during business hours on Business U.S. 61 during the milling and resurfacing due to dust and limited space during construction operations. One lane of traffic will be open during the milling and resurfacing process. Construction equipment will be entering and exiting the work zone, therefore motorists will experience some delays and alternate routes are suggested.
After resurfacing has been completed in Palmyra, crews will begin resurfacing Route C from the Route Z west junction to Route 168 near Palmyra the following week. Traffic will be handled on the existing pavement during the resurfacing operations, but will be restricted to one lane.
Crews will be working daylight hours Monday through Friday. Flashing arrow boards and orange signs will alert motorists prior to the work zone. All lanes of traffic will be open at the end of the workday.
The project was awarded to G & M Concrete and Asphalt Co., Inc. of Troy for $626,501.50.
