The National Weather Service has bumped up its forecasted crest of the Mississippi River in Hannibal next week.
The river is now expected to reach 18 feet around noon Wednesday, March 17. It is forecast to remain at that level through at least Thursday, March 18. The moderate flood stage in Hannibal begins at 18 feet.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, the river was at 16.07 feet in Hannibal, which puts it just over technical flood stage of 16 feet.
