Kirksville, MO —

An Adair County teenager is charged with attempted murder.
Eighteen-year-old Robert William Sapp is accused of trying to poison his grandparents at a home he shares with them.
Court documents show that Sapp wanted Wilma Kelsey and James Smith dead because they were rude to him and always told him what to do.
Authorities say Sapp put anti-fungal spray in their coffee and threatened a child who also lived in the home.
Kelsey made the allegations in a complaint filed with the Adair County Sheriff’s Department Sept. 3.
Kelsey, 74, died on Sept. 17 when her car crossed the median on U.S. Highway 63 and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer truck. The cause never was determined, but an autopsy was to be done.
On Tuesday, Sapp was in the Adair County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash-only bond.
