Mother thwarts LaGrange child abductor

   A Canton mother slammed the door of her vehicle on the hand of man who was trying to kidnap her 2-year-old daughter.

   It happened at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday as the mother dropped her son off at the Douglass Community Services Head Start center at 114 S. Main.

   Police said the mother took a backpack inside and as she came out saw a man trying to pull her daughter out of the vehicle.

   The woman slammed the door on the man’s hand and he fled.

   The suspect is described as a white man, about 50 years old with shoulder-length hair and a white, scraggily beard.

   People with information should call LaGrange police at (573) 655-4099.
