The Mark Twain Museum’s “First Friday Film Festival” begins at 8 p.m. Friday and runs through 2010 to celebrate “The Year of Mark Twain.” On the First Friday of each month the museum is offering a film version of one of Twain’s works.
On Friday evening. Life on the Mississippi will be featured. Filmed in 1980, it brings Twain’s classic story to life as viewers learn of his adventures and misadventures as a cub pilot on Big Muddy. Robert Lansing stars as Horace Bixby, the experienced pilot who challenges young Sam Clemens to “learn the river.”
The film festival series is part of fundraising efforts to grow the endowment — the “10 by 10” campaign to raise $10 million by the end of 2010.
A donation of $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under is requested. Please make your reservations by calling (573) 221-9010, Ext. 401.
