Debra Catlett was among five members of the not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) Board of Directors who completed an intensive orientation and training seminar May 20.
NECAC is a 12-county area not-for-profit social service, community health and public housing Community Action Agency that serves the low-income, elderly, youth, handicapped and disadvantaged. The agency’s Central Administration Offices are located in Bowling Green, with NECAC County Service Centers operated in each county.
Also completing the orientation seminar were County Commissioner Matt Bass of Lincoln County, Debbie Coonrod of Shelby County, County Commissioner Jessie Roberts of Lewis County and Chris Shoemaker of Macon County.
“We conduct an orientation and training seminar for recently-seated NECAC Board Members each year because we believe it’s important for them to gain a greater appreciation of the history and operations of NECAC and the more than 1000 Community Action Agencies in the United States,” said Don Patrick, NECAC president and CEO. “This informative program provides them with an in-depth look they wouldn’t be able to have by just attending board meetings.”
