Bethel man arrested in animal thefts

   A Bethel man is charged with two counts of stealing in connection with livestock thefts that allegedly took place last year.

   Forty-six-year-old James Ross Jones was arrested on outstanding Lewis County warrants after a traffic stop in Knox County. He also is charged with defrauding secured investors.

   Lewis County Sheriff David Parrish said Jones is believed to have been involved in selling the stolen horses and cattle over several months, and that he defrauded a Lewis County bank.

   Bond was set at $25,000 cash-only. A court date had not been set.
