One of the men charged in a December abduction and killing in Laddonia will return to court April 14.
Forty-five-year-old Darrill Kirtley Lynn of Farber is one of three men charged with kidnapping. The other two are 44-year-old Jackie Don Moss and 52-year-old Robert Nicholas Allen, both of Vandalia.
Allen is scheduled for a preliminary hearing April 14. A status hearings is March 25 for Moss.
Charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping and armed criminal action are 38-year-old Chester C. Harvey Jr. and 34-year-old Angela D. Harvey of Laddonia, 19-year-old Chad M. Harvey of Eolia. Status hearings for all three are set for April 14.
Two juvenile sons of Chester Harvey, ages 16 and 14, also are charged with first-degree murder, kidnapping, felonious restraint and armed criminal action. They may find out April 14 if they’ll be tried as adults.
Authorities say 20-year-old James William Boyd McNeely was suffocated in the basement of the Chester Harvey home on Dec. 18, 2009.
Investigators say Angela Harvey admitted to telling her husband how to kill the Columbus, Ohio, man.
Chad Harvey, Allen, Moss, Lynn and the two juveniles were involved in holding the victim against his will or contributing to his death, according to investigators.
Deputies acting on a tip found McNeely's body Dec. 22 in Vandalia inside a trailer leased to Chester Harvey. Harvey, an over-the-road truck driver, may have picked up McNeely during a run to Florida.
McNeely apparently was staying with the Harveys. Authorities have not discussed motive, but an uncle of McNeely said that weeks before the murder his nephew had spoken of getting involved with the Harveys in the illicit drug trade.
