The membership of the Hannibal Board of Public Works officially changed Wednesday afternoon during a special meeting of that body at city hall.
The resignation of Bobby Heiser, who has served on that board for 7 1/2 years, was accepted. Sworn in as Heiser’s replacement was Bud Janes, whose nomination to fill that spot was approved during Tuesday night’s meeting of the city council.
Heiser, who was forced to give up his spot on the board after being elected to the Marion County Commission, said he knows that the board is being left in good hands.
“I can honestly say that in 7 1/2 years, I never witnessed a single vote by a board member that I thought was motivated by ego or selfishness,” said Heiser, who expressed his appreciation for the “faithful employees” of the BPW.
Janes, who served as managing-partner for Bick Broadcasting for 25 years, was administered the oath of office by Mayor Roy Hark.
“Our loss is the county’s gain,” said Hark after swearing in Janes. “Mr. Janes is a fine man.”
