An update on the now-closed section of Missouri 79 will be provided by the Missouri Department of Transportation during a meeting set to begin at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at city hall in Louisiana. While the meeting is intended for local “stakeholders,” such as county commissioners, law enforcement, and fire and rescue, the general public will not be turned away.
“It’s going to be pretty crowded,” said Mark Giessinger, MoDOT maintenance and traffic engineer. “We’re expecting probably more than just the stakeholder list. We’ve gotten feedback from the public that they’re going to attend that.”
Those planning to be at the meeting should not expect to hear any surprising news.
“It’s more informational to just tell them where we’re at, what we’re doing and where we think we might be going. It’s very preliminary, but we felt like we needed to talk to the folks in that area to answer any questions that they have,” said Giessinger.
