With only one returning incumbent and another candidate interested in the other open position, the Hannibal School Board won’t be something for voters to decide on in April.
“We have two positions that will be open for the general municipal election on April 3, 2012,” Dana Ruhl, the Hannibal School District’s business manager, said. “We have two people that have filed by the deadline for filing for election, for two seats, and under a Missouri revised statute, whenever you have filings that equal — do not exceed the number of open positions — then there would not have to be an open election. Those individuals will be declared at the appropriate time to be the new board members.”
Board President David Jackson has re-filed for his position. Vice-President Sherre Mobley has not.
“It was just time for me,” she said. “I’ve gone back to graduate school and working on that, so that’s been keeping me busy.”
Terry Sampson has filed for Mobley’s chair.
“We have a great board, a very dedicated board, very open-minded, knowledgeable,” Mobley said. “No question, they’ll be in very good hands.”
