HHS students elected to office at Girls State

Hannibal, MO —

Three Hannibal High School seniors attended the 2008 session of Girls State in June at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
They were Rachel Baumann, the daughter of Mark and Diana Baumann; Lacey Colborn, the daughter of Don and Lori Colborn; and Chelsea Reutenauer, the daughter of Chuck and Denisa Reutenauer.
At Girls State, Rachel was a member of the city council for Broeg City. She was elected to the House of Representatives to travel to Jefferson City on June 25 to attend an MGS legislative hearing.
Lacey was elected a city council woman for Benton City. She also was elected to the House of Representatives to travel to Jefferson City on June 25 to the attend an MGS legislative hearing.
Chelsea was elected an official for Anthony City and county clerk for Barton County.
They were selected to attend Girls State as HHS juniors.
At HHS, by her junior year Rachel had participated in varsity volleyball and basketball, the Student Council, Espancais and National Honor Society.
She had been named a freshman student of the month and All-Conference volleyball player. She had received NCMC Academic Awards. She was on the 4.0 honor roll. Rachel also is a member of Rock Point 4-H Club and Arch United Methodist Church.
By her junior year at HHS, Lacey had participated in varsity track, varsity football stats, varsity basketball, National Honor Society and Student Council.
She is a member of the Calvary Baptist Church Youth Group. Lacey had been a freshman student of the month. She was a State Qualifier and All-Conference track and All-District track. She was on the 4.0 honor roll.
Chelsea had participated in three HHS sports by her junior year: varsity volleyball, basketball and soccer. She was sophomore student of the year and earlier had been a freshman student of the month. She is on the 4.0 honor roll.
Chelsea was named to the NCMC All-Conference volleyball, basketball and soccer and All-District volleyball, basketball and soccer.
