Carol Kellum has been named president and CEO of KHQA-TV and KTVO-TV, Keokuk, Iowa,-Hannibal, Missouri-Quincy, Illinois and Ottumwa, Iowa-Kirksville, Missouri respectively, a division of Barrington Broadcasting Group, LLC.
The announcement was made Monday by Barrington Broadcasting Group CEO Jim Yager and Chris Cornelius, president and Chief Operating Officer.
Kellum, a seasoned broadcast executive with over 20 years experience, will oversee all operations of the station, including the development of community and marketing relationships, local news and Web site initiatives, business affairs and the transition to digital as President of KHQA-TV and KTVO-TV.
In making the announcement, Cornelius stated, “this promotion is in recognition of Carol’s continued efforts to accelerate the growth of KHQA-TV and KTVO-TV’s broadcast and digital assets. Carol has distinguished herself as a leader in connecting the consumer and advertiser together through local broadcast TV as well as the development of KHQA-TV and KTVO-TV’s local internet portal.”
Yager stated, “In both of these markets, Barrington is developing a multi-platform media company and I’m extremely pleased that Carol will be overseeing these expanding assets. With our locally focused broadcast station, digital secondary channels and strong web assets, Carol’s background will continue their development.”
Prior to Carol’s position as vice president and general manager of KHQA-TV and KTVO-TV, she was the sales manager at WGEM-TV in Quincy, Ill., and became the station manager of KTVO-TV in 2006.
She currently serves on the Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce board as well as the newly formed Kirksville Historical Preservation Commission Board. She also belongs to the Kirksville Image Committee and Kirksville Downtown Improvement Committee.
