A shivering man was rescued from waist-deep water Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 31, in the Cuivre River at Moscow Mills.
The Lincoln County Fire Protection District No. 1 was dispatched to the 800 block of East Port Au Prince in Moscow Mills, MO for the water rescue.
Firefighters threw a life jacket to the man who was shivering, but was able to put it on. Firefighters then descended the steep river bank using ropes and pulled the man to safety and up the bank. He was treated by Paramedics from Lincoln County Ambulance District and taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
The man stated he attempted to sit down at the top of the river bank and slipped and fell about 25 feet down, landing in the water. He was unable to climb out due the muddy and slippery conditions on the river bank. A family member found him sometime later. It is unknown how long the man was in the water.
